TECH TIP: ACHIEVING ULTIMATE VEHICLE PERFORMANCE WITH YOUR X-SERIES ESC
As with any extremely high powered electric power system, the primary limitations to ultimate vehicle performance are the batteries and connectors. In short, use the best batteries and connectors you can find!
A fast brushless setup will draw many times the power that common “white plastic” connectors can safely handle, therefor, investing in batteries and connector sets made for high powered electric systems is a must. The connection must be reliable, solid, and able to pass enough current to meet the maximum current demands of your ESC/motor combination. If the RC LiPo battery connector can't pass enough current, it can overheat and/or introduce a voltage drop or ripple voltage (either extreme can cause irreparable damage to ESC).
Look at it this way. There’s a lot going on in a brushless power system. The motor, controller and battery are truly connected to one another and they all need to be in a sort of equilibrium. Any “weakness” in one can lead to a failure somewhere else in the system.
